Studio Policy

Mission Statement
Every student has the right to a quality music education.  The goal of this studio is to enable students to become proficient, independent music makers who will love music and share it throughout their lives.

STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.     Be prepared.  This includes having practiced every day, having all music books requested and view front binder.  Practice is goal oriented not an amount of time spent.
2.     Be on time for your lesson.  Your lesson time is valuable.  So is that of the student who may come after you.  Use it wisely.
3.     Practice correctly, closely following instructions.  Read your assignment sheet for details you may have forgotten.
4.     Record practice time on weekly assignment sheet and have it signed by a parent or someone who heard you practice.
5.     Participate in all required studio events and activities - AIM, Masterclasses, Recitals
6.     Enjoy making music for yourself, your family and your friends.  Look forward to sharing your talent with others.

PARENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.     Be involved.  Parents are welcome to attend lessons.  Feel free to ask questions. Carefully read the studio emails and make note of upcoming events.  Attend all recitals, competitions and performances.
2.     Provide support, encouragement and discipline for regular, consistent practice time.
3.     Provide music books and other materials as requested as soon as possible.
4.     Tuition of $____________ is to be paid monthly in advance of lessons through automatic withdrawal.  The agreed amount will be automatically deducted from your account on the 1st of each month regardless of the number of weeks in the month. This amount is based on a 12 month year with vacation days excluded and divided into monthly payments. Tuition is for time scheduled, not lessons taken.  Please complete the attached Automatic Payment Authorization and return with this registration form.  30 day notice is required if you choose to terminate lessons. Any changes must be turned in by the 25th of the month prior to change.
5.     Semester payments may be made prior to December 15, April 15, August 15 and must include $24 Piano Marvel fee. Venmo payments must add 3% Venmo fee.
6.     Students who take a break from lessons will be charged the current tuition rate when they return - rather than their grandfathered rate - regardless of the amount of time away. Extra theory, composition and/or organ lessons may be scheduled during the summer as makeup for prearranged vacation absences. Continuing regular payment will entitle student to keep grandfathered rate and guarantees a slot when returning.  A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a spot. Lesson time will not be guaranteed.
7.     Please text if your child is not able to attend his/her lesson.
8.     There will be an annual materials fee of $35 due in May of each year which covers Theory Strips, AIM Book if applicable, copies, lending library, etc.
9.     Please register your student at oakwood.duetpartner.com.    User name should be student’s first and last name with no caps or spaces.  Optional password:  winners
10.  All students are required to have a Piano Marvel Account.  iPad for home use is strongly encouraged.  Payment will be handled through Oakwood Music Studio.  Monthly fee of $6 will be added to monthly tuition.
